Leadership Limelight: Meet Your Fishers Township Trustees!

Did you know that Fishers utilizes a Township Government? Our Township Trustees Doug Allman (Fall Creek Township) and Debbie Driskell (Delaware Township) are doing great things to serve our community!

Township Trustees are four-year-term elected officials who perform many vital functions within our community. Along with things like fire protection, cemetery maintenance and an on-site food pantry, our Trustees act as a “stop gap” for families and individuals facing a crisis situation via township assistance. This is a far cry from ‘welfare and food stamps’.

When residents find themselves facing an unexpected crisis and have no other resources to turn to, they may be eligible for township assistance. Our Trustees connect people to the services they need most, whether it be paying an overdue electric bill, offering assistance during a medical crisis, or helping them find immediate shelter.

They work closely with many local groups within Fishers, including our Sheriff’s Department, Fishers Police Department, The Red Cross, local churches and more. Many of the issues facing the Trustees’ clients include financial hardship, homelessness, mental health and seniors with limited resources. Doug Allman and Debbie Driskell are committed to providing assistance to our most at-risk residents and keeping families intact.

They’ve implemented both backpack and school supply donation programs within our schools, set people up with free financial counseling through a program called FLiCK, and connected families with a local group called Family Promise that specializes in finding housing for homeless families.

Our Trustees are a valuable community resource and are committed to keeping Fishers residents functioning and thriving in our great community. We are grateful for their continued years of service and leadership and are blessed to receive their support of our Fishers One community as well. Keep these services in mind for those you may know or meet along the way!
